Abstract

In order to study the generation processes of shock wave and plasma jet due to the metal bridge foil explosion, the plasma schlieren measurement system with the double-pulse laser source was used to observe the flow field of the bridge foil explosion. The schlieren photographs of the flow field were taken at various times after bridge foil explosion by precisely adjusting the shooting timing of each experiment. The burst current and voltage of metal bridge foil explosion were measured by Rogowski and high-voltage probe, respectively. The important characteristic parameters, such as propagation distance, speed and pressure, of plasma jet and shock wave were obtained from the schlieren photographs. And the propagation laws of plasma jet and shock wave in the air wave were given.
