Abstract

The formation and penetration experiments were performed with miniature EFP (Explosively Formed Projectile) warhead. The radiographs of formation process of EFP were obtained with x-ray facilities, and the EFP's shape was quasi-sphere finally. Penetration capability of EFP warhead was proof by A3 Steel targets. While standoff is 450 times diameter of charge, penetration depth is 0.45 times diameter of charge. The results of experiments indicated that formation and penetration properties are stable and consistent. The miniature EFP warhead is able to damage light armor and can be applied to miniature weapon system.
