Abstract

Aimed at the tank active protection system such as the ARENE, a method of damage effectiveness evaluation on the ammunition is studied. The equivalent model of target vital part and the damage criterion are respectively put forward by target vulnerability analysis. Mathematical models of both the fragment scattering field of ammunition and the coordinate of exploration point are set up by means of the Monte-Carlo method. Programs of calculating the ammunition damage probability are made up, and a typical example calculated. From calculated results, the effect of the attack distance and the fragments scattering angle on ammunition damage probability are discussed. Research results can become means in system design, effectiveness analysis and ammunition optimization design on similar tank defense systems, and be of use for other studies.
