Abstract

Evaluation method for the standard of signal to clutter ratio (SCR) depends on the selection of target area for ground penetrating radar signals, and the result of area selection by using different methods is different. An evaluation method is introduced for clutter suppression of ground penetrating radar according to the relation of the deferences of target area and background and image entropy instead of the selection of target area. Base on the analysis of the application of image entropy in synthetic aperture algorithm and the theory of clutter suppression, it discusses the relation of the target feature change and image entropy. According to the value of image entropy of ground penetrating radar B-scan, less value shows that the effect of the relating algorithm of clutter suppression of ground penetrating radar is better. Furthermore, it uses SCR to test the result of image entropy, which shows that image entropy can be used as an evaluation standard for ground-penetrating radar clutter suppression effect for common algorithms of clutter suppression.
