Abstract

Increasing the energy efficiency of industrial processes has been a major issue for the manufacturing industry. To achieve energy-efficient production while maintaining the required productivity, the efficiencies of machines should be optimized. In this work, the energy consumption optimization for a kind of batch production-based serial line with limited buffers and Bernoulli reliability machines is discussed. The analytical solution is obtained for a special case of the optimization problem. A calculation procedure is proposed to find the numerical solution for general cases. Experimental results show that the proposed procedure can solve the energy consumption optimization problem effectively.
