Abstract

Recent years have witnessed an upsurge in the prevalence of mobile devices. However, it's still not convenient and smart enough for users to obtain contents in the reality. In this paper, we present Delay/Disruption-tolerant Mobile Content Sharing Network (DMCSN) to address this issue. Contents are the most important resources in our design and around them we propose a series of supporting mechanisms such as Interest/Response Content Bundle, separation of content entity and its correlated information, and requesting/acquisition procedure. As a result, DMCSN: 1) allows contents to be stored as named objects and be asked accordingly; 2) enables data request without the foreknowledge of the source ID; and 3) supports fully use of content copies with the same name on nearby locations to decrease overall delivery overhead and delay. Extensive simulations are conducted to evaluate our solution. The results show that it's not merely economical in terms of nodes' resources but also can improve the overall performance and provide efficient content sharing service to users.
