Abstract

In this paper, a 1-bit electronically reconfigurable transmitarray is presented and studied numerically in Ku band. It works in linear polarization and has a capability of beam steering over a wide range of angles and frequencies. The proposed element consists of multilayer annular ring patches and substrates. Being integrated two pin diodes, every element can be electronically controlled to generate two phase states 0° or 180°. A simple calculation procedure is carried out to attain maximum aperture efficiency of 10 × 10 array. The 3dB gain bandwidth includes 12.5GHz~17.5GHz (relative bandwidth more than 33%) and aperture efficiency is 33.64% at 15GHz. Beam steering within ±50° can be achieved in bandwidth and scan beams are given at 14GHz and 16GHz.
