Abstract

All the previous work on self-deployment for coverage control issue of mobile sensor networks assumed that every sensor node can know its exact position by some localization technology. However, all the localization algorithms in WSNs are inexact. In fact, localization error may cause larger self-deployment error. In this paper, we proposed a connectivity degree control algorithm (CDCA) for coverage control in mobile sensor networks. CDCA is a range-free algorithm without localization information in WSNs. The algorithm tries to make the amount of every sensor node's neighbor adjust to being same and get the ideal concentrated coefficient for self-deployment based on nodes' local connectivity information. Simulations demonstrate that CDCA can improve coverage rate and uniformity of connectivity effectively.
