Abstract

Based on the color display principle of LCD (Liquid Crystal Display), two existing methods of characterization are compared. Since the color space of LCD is device-dependent, the characterization of LCD is carried on. The color space of LCD (RGB) to the CIE standard color space (CIE XYZ) is mapped. The data are evaluated by the color difference formula of CIELAB. The applicability of two methods (1-Dimention Look-Up Table (1D-LUT) and GOG (Gain-Offset-Gamma) Model) of characterization are analyzed. Results show that the average color difference of the tested value and the predicted value of the two characterization methods are respectively 1.56, 8.87, which prove that the accuracy of 1D-LUT is higher than the accuracy of GOG Model. What's more, the ability of color reproduction of 1D-LUT is better than the GOG Model.
