Chaos prediction for IR target detection

Abstract

Background prediction is one of the main background suppression methods for target detection. A novel algorithm of background prediction based on the chaotic character of the clutter cloud is presented in this paper. It is realized that the cloud background of IR image has the chaos character in space, and the Volterra adaptive filter can be introduced to forecast the clutter background. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has good effect on cloud background suppression and the residues have white noise characteristics. It also improves the forecast accuracy of the clouds background and obviously increases the signal-to-clutter ratio (SCR).
