Abstract

Based on geometrical optics and damped-least-squares optimization and applying penalty functions, methods of determining the Gaussian parameters are studied for different types of zoom lenses, including those with one zooming group and one compensating group, with two zooming groups moving in connection, and with multiple moving groups. The method proposed can not only be used for complex zoom systems with multiple moving groups, but also for simpler types of zoom lenses.
