Abstract
We presented a novel multi-level high voltage converter with a PBC (power buffer cell) based on traditional cascaded H-bridge converters, and introduced the control algorithm to make the DC bus of PBC to be kept the same. The simulation and experimental results show that the topology can increase the output voltage level with less isolated DC bus than traditional cascaded H-bridge converters. So the converter can lower the cost, increase the output voltage, and enlarge the capacity of the system.
