Abstract

To improve the performance of routing protocols with single metric in mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs), multi-metric routing protocols have been studied. Mostly, they just conFigure weight factors for each metric only once. But the network status is changing, and the factors also need to be updated. To solve this problem, we propose a scheme based on the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to dynamically update the weight factors. We extend the ad-hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) protocol to evaluate our scheme. The simulation results show that the optimized routing protocol improves the packet delivery ratio and reduces the average end-to-end delay compared with other routing protocols such as AODV, fixed weighted AODV, and multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) based AODV.
