Abstract
A new time-delay estimation method based upon Cubic spline interpolation and Area bary center algorithm that is well suitable for determining the time-delay between two noisy band-limited signals is introduced. Unlike conventional correlation algorithm, the new approach has the ability to optimally estimate any non-integral sample delay only using Cubic spline interpolation and Area bary center algorithm. The algorithm is not limited by the sampling rate, and does not require an accurate prior estimate of the input signals. The technique is simple to implement and has an optimal precision compared to other techniques which use the conventional correlation algorithm. The theoretical derivation for our proposed algorithm is provided, and the simulations are presented to evaluate the performance of the new method.
