Abstract

This paper presents a three-dimensional (3-D) near-field millimeter wave (MMW) imaging algorithm for cross multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) array. The conventional wavenumber domain based algorithms cannot be directly utilized in the cross MIMO array scenario unless an approximation of the phase term was made. However, this term has obviously adverse effect on the near-field imaging. In this paper, we perform only one-dimensional (1-D) Fourier transform to obtain the corresponding spatial frequency variable, leaving out the other two dimensions. In this regard, we implement the phase compensation in the space-wavenumber domain without any approximations. The simulated and experimental results are provided to demonstrate the performance advantage of the proposed approach.
