Abstract

A C-band stepped frequency synthesizer for synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is presented in this paper. This frequency synthesizer, which is constituted by a Ping-Pong type with two PLL, has high performance such as fast hopping, high spur suppression and low phase noise. In this design, the output frequency range is 6.7∼7.4GHz, and the step size is 10MHz with frequency agility less than 1us. Measurement results have shown that the output power is at least 9dBm, the spur suppression is below -70dBc and the phase noise at 100KHz offset from carrier is about -110dBc/Hz.
