Abstract

A dual-band tri-polarized antenna which operates at 2.1 GHz and 3.6 GHz is proposed in this paper. This antenna satisfies the requirement for low profile by a disk-loaded monopole with a short-circuit arm. The size of the antenna is 52 mm∗52 mm∗15 mm. The impedance bandwidths are 2.04 GHz to 2.17 GHz and 3.50 GHz to 3.70 GHz with the VSWR lower than 2, respectively. The maximum gain for right-hand circular polarization is 3.24 dBi at 2.1 GHz. At 3.6 GHz, the antenna provides three mutually orthogonal polarizations (X, Y and Z), which can improve favorable radiation characteristics at low elevation. The antenna is appropriate for satellite communication and various other applications.
