Abstract
A series of blast tests were carried out to investigate the blast response of steel reinforced concrete (RC) columns subjected to close-in blast loading. The numerical model of RC columns is developed using software LS-DYNA, in which spalling effects are considered. The accuracy of the model to simulate the response of RC columns subjected to close-in blast loads is verified by comparing the numerically simulated results with the test results. Parametric studies are further performed to examine the effects of column transverse reinforcement ratios and axial load on the dynamic response of RC columns subjected to explosions.
