Abstract

With the rapid development of virtual reality (VR) technology and brain-computer interface (BCI) technology, VR has been widely used in the fields of cognitive training and neural rehabilitation. Compared with the traditional cognitive training methods, the VR technology applied to neurofeedback training can significantly reduce the system cost and effectively improve the training performance by replacing the user’s real training environment with a highly customizable and immersive virtual environment. Starting from the advantages and applications of VR technology in neurofeedback training, the neurofeedback training mechanism is summarized along with discussion of the feedback training methods of VR technology. Based on the research status of VR technology in neurofeedback training, a description on the future directions of the technology is provided, which includes inducing a more obvious electroencephalography feature, designing personalized training program, increasing the transmission rate of feedback information, improving the comfort of the training process, and adding multi-modal brain imaging technology.
