Abstract

A novel thermoregulated phase-transfer(TPT)catalysis system composed of H2O,1-hexanol and Ru nanocatalyst(Runano catalyst)was developed and utilized for the selective hydrogenation of chalcone at atmospheric H2 pressure. Under the optimal circumstances, both the conversion of chalcone and the selectivity for the product of C==C double bond hydrogenation from chalcone were above 99%. The Runano catalyst is conveniently separable from product and directly recycled six times with conversion and selectivity remaining unchanged. The turnover frequency(TOF)was higher than that of previously reported Runano catalyst and the leaching of Ru was further reduced. In addition, this novel TPT catalysis system was also extended to the atmospheric hydrogenation of other α,β-unsaturated ketones with >99% conversion and selectivity.
