Abstract

In order to improve the accuracy of γ-Reθttransition model in hypersonic transition prediction, Mach number and Reynolds number were introduced into the γ-Reθttransition model to reflect the compressible effect of hypersonic flow, and based on response surface methodology, the fitting relationship between vortex Reynolds number and momentum thickness Reynolds number was reconstructed, so that the J-ReSt transition model can be applied to hypersonic flow. Considering the practical application, the user-defined function (UDF) was used to modify the Regc and Fiength functions of the J-Regt transition model in commercial software Fluent, and the modified γ-Reθttransition model was tested and verified by using hypersonic plate and blunt cone. Compared with the original J-Regt transition model and experimental data, the improved γ-Reθttransition model can successfully predict the change of stanton number caused by boundary layer transition, and the prediction accuracy of transition starting position is significantly improved compared with the original model.
