Abstract

Contact-Impact algorithm is key factor that affect the accuracy of numerical simulation for dynamic contact problem. So it is of great significance to develop robust and accurate local searching algorithms. To overcome the blind zone existing in common search algorithm,a new segment-to-segment based local searching method is proposed, and the corresponding contact force evaluating method is developed in this paper. In the new method, centroid and characteristic length of the relevant contact-segment are used to represent the corresponding true geometry, and pre-searching algorithm is introduced to fast eliminate the potential contact-pairs that will not contact obviously. In the detail contact detection phase, the contact state is determined by using the projection and penetration relations between master and slave segments. And an efficient inverse iso-parametric mapping method is adopted to evaluate the contact point to avoid iteration when seeking solutions of the equation set.Several typical examples are used to test the performance of the new method. The results show that the new contact searching algorithm has good robustness and computation accuracy, and the blind zone problem is resolved.
