N2 - Reverse ballistic impact test, where more comprehensive and quantitative response data of rod/projectile than forward impact tests can be obtained, was widely used for the measurement of material dynamic and structure response. The Taylor experiment of forward and reverse ballistic with different length-diameter ratios was carried out, which provided the real-time response data of the Taylor rod in microsecond level. Then, the transient structural deformation of the specimen and the characteristics of plastic wave propagation were analyzed. Combining with the simulation results, the rules of structure deformation, changes of energy and plastic wave propagation were obtained. The equivalent relationship of structure deformation between forward and reverse impact was built from the perspective of energy, while the mass ratio of target-projectile is above 20|, the relative deviation of deformation energy is less than 5%.
