The discussion on mechanism of electromagnetic radiation produced by Al-Al hypervelocity impact

摘要

The energy is intensely released in the form of electromagnetic waves in the process of hypervelocity impact. Three mechanisms of electromagnetic waves emitted by impact are presented based on the experimental results carried out in two-stage light gas gun: radiation emitted from plasma, thermal radiation emitted from debris, and radiation due to the damage of materials. The three mechanisms are analyzed. Collective oscillation of the plasma produced under hypervelocity impact can emit microwave. It can be seen from the measured spectrum in hypervelocity impact that the spectrum consists of line spectrum and continuous spectrum. The continuous spectrum turns to the basement of spectrum. The line spectrum is produced by plasma excitation radiation. The continuous spectrum is produced by plasma recombination radiation, bremsstrahlung and thermal radiation generated in the process of impact.
