N2 - The pressure amplitude is an important evaluation index of the performance for thermoacoustic engine. The existed studies indicated that the pressure amplitude of the thermoacoustic engine with high frequency is lower than that with lower frequency. This paper adjusts the frequency by adjusting the working gas in the engine, and analyzes the relationship between frequency and pressure amplitude. It shows that the dissipation is proportional to the frequency and the square of the pressure amplitude. In the engine under the steadily working period, the generated acoustic power and the dissipation need to be balanced. Thus, with the same generated acoustic power or dissipation, the pressure amplitude decreases as the frequency increases in the thermoacoustic engine.
