Study on the characteristics of a magneto-hydro-dynamic stirrer

摘要

This paper studied the characteristics of a magneto-hydro-dynamic (MHD) stirring chamber experimentally and theoretically. The MHD stirring chamber is fabricated with ordinary brass and polycarbonate plate by conventional machining method. The solution used in the study is saline solution. Some glass beads were added into the solution to visualize the stirring movement. The velocity field is measured and analyzed by microscopy visualization technique. The MHD stirring chamber has found it's application in the micro channel mixing system and can be used in other micro fluidic systems.
