Sol-gel synthesis and characterization of silica materials using surfactant-like organic acid compounds as templates

摘要

Templated-assisted strategy has become one of the most popular methods for the synthesis of nanomaterials with uniform size and controllable dimensions in recent years. In this paper, we report the sol-gel synthesis of silica materials by using different kinds of 2-hydroxycarboxylic acids as templates. As-prepared silica materials are characterizaed by field-emission gun scanning electron microscopy (FEG-SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Microscopic studies reveal that the alkyl chains of 2-hydroxycarboxylic acids play an important role in the formation of well-defined silica spheres.
