Scavenging design and optimization for hydraulic free piston diesel engine

摘要

The electro-hydraulic camless valve control strategy was developed based on the valve-intake port uniflow scavenging and the characteristics of a hydraulic free piston engine. Then the control strategy was verified by the experiment and the cylinder pressure and piston running curve were obtained at the same time, to determine the boundary conditions of the 3D CFD. Moreover, the influence of engine parameters, such as exhaust valve timing, intake port height and the inlet pressure, on delivery ratio, and trapping ratio and scavenging efficiency were analyzed by the simulation model established by the AVL_FIRE ENGINE PLUS. On this basis, an optimization function based on the scavenging efficiency, delivery ratio and trapping ratio was proposed. Finally, optimization result shows that the scavenging efficiency can reach 84.7% when the boundary conditions are satisfied with ps=0.16 MPa, hs=26 mm and EVO=48 mm.
