N2 - Fare maker uses urban rail transit pricing methods to ensure the overall interests of the society, enhance the operational efficiency of the track operators, and further attract investors to invest and reduce the government financial burden. Rail transit fares are closely related to the further development of urban rail transit. In addition, they affect the interests of urban residents, governments, rail transit operators, and their investors. In the paper, the background, significance, and current development of rail transit are introduced. Then, urban rail transit fare and strategies, simple fare types, and factors influencing the urban rail transit ticket prices are presented. Following that, the related freight theory and price making model are introduced. Lastly, the urban rail transit ticket pricing practice in China is introduced. The paper provides a theoretical basis for urban rail transit fare makers to more effectively determine urban rail fares.
