摘要
In this paper, the research progress on double swirl combustion system (DSCS) is summarized, and application of DSCS on the middle size diesel engine and its future development are presented. The behavioral modeling extension (BMX) method was adopted to design the combustion chamber. Calculation in spray and combustion process of a DI diesel engine was carried out. The spray development and in-cylinder temperature distribution was analyzed in details. The simulation results showed that the spray distribution was more uniform for the DSCS. Meanwhile, a DI diesel engine with DSCS and bore diameter of 132 mm was tested in an engine test rig. The results showed that the fuel economy could be improved remarkably with DSCS.
