Research on the effect of forced swirl combustion chamber on air-fuel mixture process in diesel engine

摘要

A concept of forced swirl combustion chamber is proposed in this paper. It can be used to enhance the swirl flow intensity in cylinder and accelerate the rate of air-fuel mixture process by designing the special structure in combustion chamber. Combustion simulation using AVL Fire code was made in two types of forced swirl combustion chambers and one traditional combustion chamber. The simulated result shows that combustion rate and combustion efficiency are enhanced in two types of forced swirl combustion chambers. Verification was made in a single cylinder engine with double swirl combustion chamber. The test result shows that, comparing with the traditional combustion chamber, BSFC of the double swirl combustion chamber decreases by 7.5 percent, and main combustion duration decreases by 6.9 percent. The correctness of simulation and validity of forced swirl combustion chamber are confirmed.
