N2 - In the large-scale Military Oriented Virtual Environment, lots of models are used and they have different storage manners. So the effective management of these models is the key technology for VE constructing. In Military Oriented Virtual Environment, model bases were mainly comprised by weapon models. Therefore, taking distributed weapon model base as example, the combination and implement of LDAP and distributed file system technology in distributed weapon model bases were researched after analyzing the features and requirements of such bases. This system organized the weapon models effectively, and provided a powerful data management mechanism for the high level simulation applications. It enhanced the inter-operability and reusability of the weapon models. The base has been proved to be efficient and flexible.
