摘要

Unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine (UDMH) has been widely used in liquid propellant, as well as plant growth regulation, chemical synthesis, photographic chemicals, etc. However, its uncontrolled discharge into environment could cause severely adverse effect on ecosystem and human health due to its highly toxic nature. Therefore, biodegradation, adsorption and advanced oxidation process (AOP) techniques have been intensively applied for UDMH removal. Among the AOP techniques toward UDMH removal, photocatalytic oxidation has been attracting increasing attention due to its low energy and oxidant consumption at the function of TiO2-based or other photocatalysts with modifications of chemical doping or heterojunction constructing. This overview comprehensively reviews the nature of UDMH and the recent reported techniques for UDMH removal, with a specific focus on the available works on photocatalytic oxidation of UDMH. The corresponding adsorptive-degradation mechanisms and performances in photocatalytic UDMH degradation are summarized, and opinions on the future directions for UDMH removal techniques are provided.
