Removal of coloring matter from hydrolytic nitrification liquor of bone glue by macroporous absorbant resin (MAR) is studied during hydroxyproline (Hyp) processing. The concentration of coloring matter was determined by a spectrometric method. Two steps for removing coloring matter during the conventional procedure were combined, taking advantages of the MAR. It was found that type H1020 MAR could work well in the removal of coloring matter from hydrolytic nitrification liquor of bone glue. The optimal processing parameters were as follows: the comparative concentration of coloring matter, 0.1667; ratio between volume of solution and resin, 5:1. Under such conditions, the ratio of removed coloring matter and lost Hyp were 0.784 and 0.101, respectively. These data implied that MAR could find a potential application in Hyp preparation from bone glue.
