Preparation of polyvinyl alcohol hydrogel by twin-serew extrusion and its characterization

摘要

Two kinds of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogels (40wt% PVA) were prepared by twin-screw extruder and following repetitively freezing-thawing processes. Static and dynamic mechanical performances were measured by Instron-6022 tensile equipment and DMTA V dynamic thermoanalysis equipment. It is obtained that, firstly, the PVA hydrogels by extrusion have higher tensile strength than PVA hydrogels by the solution casting method. The tensile strength and elastic modulus of PVA/H2O gel are lower than that of PVA/DMSO/H2O gel. The effective cross-linking density (ve) and the molecular mass between crosslinking points (Mc) were calculated. Dynamic mechanical behaviors of the two kinds of PVA/H2O and PVA/DMSO/H2O were discussed. The two hydrogels showed different transition processes with temperature.
