Phase transition of carbon black shocked by explosion

摘要

To study the transformation mechanism of phase transition between the different crystalline types of carbon materials, the explosion effect of 8701 explosive is used to provide the super pressure and high temperature to cause the phase transiton of carbon black. The detonation pressure measured in experiment is 16.7 GPa, and the detonation temperature calculated by the empirical formula and Cook detonation temperature theory is 3 200 K. The carbon black is located in the stable region of diamond cubic crystal. It is found from the X-ray diffraction analysis that the diamond is cubic crystal diamond. Its particle size is from 0.4 μm to 24 μm, and is focused in the range of 0.4~4 μm. According to the pictures of XRD and SEM, it is coalesced by single cubic crystal diamonds of which the average particle size is between 10 nm and 20 nm. The polycrystalline diamond is significantly different from the diamond of which graphite is used as a carbon source.
