摘要

Capillary discharge with an extended brass tube is numerically simulated with a time-dependent 1-D mathematical model. It is expected to achieve a better agreement of the simulation results with the measured data from the work of Powell by introducing the extended brass tube. A modified MacCormack two-step scheme is applied to solve the governing equation. Results from the present simulation show that the extended brass tube would affect the plasma flow properties significantly. Compared with the previous research in which the extended brass tube is ignored, a relatively better agreement of simulated pressure with the measured data is achieved. The mechanism that the extended brass tube could strength the transient effect of plasma flow properties is investigated. Reasons that the transient effect of present simulated pressure is still not strong enough and possible way to improve the agreement of present simulation results with the measured data are discussed.
