Numerical simulation of shock initiation of confined charge by debris impact

摘要

Non-linear dynamics software AUTODYN-2D is applied to simulate the shock initiation of confined charge by debris impact. The confined charge consists of aluminum and PBX. Numerical simulation is based on Lee-Tarver ignition and growth model. The effectiveness of the confined charge used as a protective structure to prevent the debris in space from impacting is proven by comparing the simulation results. The superiority of the confined charge is validated by comparing the simulation results with those of impact on aluminum plates. The size and velocity of debris contributing to the shock ignition are analyzed. The simulation results show that a stable detonation is formed with the increase in the impact velocity. The size of the debris affectsthe critical impact velocity of detonation. Furthermore, the thickness of the shell of the confined charge is also taken into account to study its influence on shock ignition.
