N2 - This survey study explored the effects of different types of work-family conflict on work/family satisfaction and subjective well-being(SWB). We distinguished work-family conflict into six types based both on the directions (work-interference-family, WIF; family-interference-work, FIW) and the forms (time based, strain based and behavior based conflict) of conflict. We also testified the moderating effects of general self-efficacy. Using data of 393 participants, hierarchical regression analyses revealed that only the general FIW had significant predictive power on work satisfaction and behavior based WIF had significant negative influences on both family satisfaction and SWB. General self-efficacy were found to moderate the relationship between strain based FIW and work satisfaction, time based FIW and family satisfaction, and also between behavior based FIW and SWB. The implications of these findings are discussed.
