摘要
Liquid crystal polarisation holograms (LCPHs) are emerging as a new type of planar optical elements with fascinating attributes like high efficiency, large bandwidth, micrometre thinness, dynamic tunability and polarisation dependency. These advantages, especially the compact form and dynamic tunability, are extremely suitable for applications in near-eye displays like virtual reality and augmented reality. Here, a comprehensive description of LCPHs is given, including the physical structure, optical properties, fabrication methods and applications.
