abstract = "Pipelines are of great importance to gas and petrochemical industries. Frequently, they are used to transport gas by hundreds or even thousands of miles. It is a very important task to keep the gas pipeline under safety operation. Leak detection and localization mechanisms play an important role in the management of a gas pipeline system. In this paper, a model-based leak detection and localization algorithm was proposed. In order to test the performance of the proposed method, a practical test rig has been built. The experiment results show that accurate and robustness leak detection and localization can be achieved using this method.",
