Frequency shift keying for Direct Antenna Modulation (DAM) with electrically small antenna

摘要

The capacity of electrically small antenna system is limited by the lower bound of radiation quality factor. Direct Antenna Modulation (DAM) has been developed to overcome the bandwidth limitation by decoupling the stored energy and radiating power so that the bandwidth is no longer constrained by quality factor. DAM has been applied with digital modulation such as OOK and QPSK. In this article, DAM is applied with a modified FSK modulation scheme and achieves a bit rate 100% of the carrier frequency. The power spectrum density of the proposed FSK signal can be represented by a two-tone signal, which allows a simple frequency detector to decode the information. The principle of DAM FSK has been validated in simulation.
