摘要

The incorporation of metals and their oxides into polymer nanocomposites can greatly enhance fire safety performance. For different polymer matrices, this strategy is mostly used in epoxy resin nanocomposites. The application of polyurethane (PU) is also paid more attention. This chapter focuses on the flame retardancy of polymer nanocomposites containing metallic nanoparticles (NPs). Metallic NPs, involving magnesium hydroxides (MHs), aluminum hydroxides (ATHs), titanium dioxides (TDs), molybdenum disulfides (MoS2), and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), were introduced. The performance of single NPs in polymer nanocomposites is limited. Hybridization between various nanomaterials is used for novel NPs with complex structures, which is effective and still needs to be explored.
