摘要

In order to study the reasons of the shortened combustion duration, an experimental study of the evaporation characteristics of benzyl azides droplets was carried out by a suspended droplet device. Morphological transformations of the benzyl azides droplet in the vaporization processes were monitored by employing a high-speed digital camera, while the effects of ambient temperature on vaporization rate constants were also studied as the initial droplet diameter of 1.42 mm. The experimental results show that the liquid phase reaction of benzyl azides has a strong influence on the evaporation behavior of the droplet. Four main phenomena (droplet deformation, bubble formation and growth, puffing and microexplosion) were identified in the droplet evaporation, such strong responses are believed to be caused by the rapid release of nitrogen due to decomposition of benzyl azides occurs in the liquid phase, within the droplet interior.
