Experimental Study of Critical Diameter of DNAN-based Aluminized Melt-cast Explosives

摘要

In order to reveal the detonation propagation characteristics of DNAN (2,4-dinitroanisole)-based melt-cast explosives, and speed up the application of the explosives, the critical diameter of DNAN-based aluminized melt-cast explosives is measured by continuous wire method. The measured results demonstrate that the critical diameter of DNAN-based aluminized melt-cast explosives decreases with the increase in wt% of aluminum (0~30wt%) and the decrease in particle sizes of both aluminum (d50:6 μm, 12 μm, 31 μm) and RDX (d50:19 μm, 147 μm, 751 μm), and increases with the decrease in crystal quality of RDX. The investigation can provide a basic reference for both the formulation of DNAN-based aluminized melt-cast explosives and the warhead design.
