Experimental research on the damage effect of concrete target impacted by reactive projectile

摘要

An reactive projectile filled with reactive core (PTFE/AL) and high-intensity shell was designed and prepared. Experiments on the damage effect of concrete target impacted by reactive projectile were conducted base on the 25 mm ballistic gun launching platform. It demonstrates that reactive projectiles at 941~1679 m/s all burn and explode violently after impacting concrete targets. The crater effect of the concrete targets shows that damage efficiency of the active projectiles will be improved greatly compared with that of the same size inert material core projectiles. Reactive projectiles penetration into the concrete targets relys on its own kinetic energy and strength, meanwhile, reactive material cores explode violently and release a great deal of chemical energy during the penetration progress in the targets, this “penetration explosion coupling effect” is the dominant mechanism causing highly efficient damage of concrete targets.
