N2 - Twelve-phase permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) are widely used in high-power ship propulsion and have a wide range of application prospects. In this paper, we take the twelve-phase permanent magnet propulsion system with multi-channel control technology as the research object and study the balanced drive method under the motor grouping control mode. A mathematical model of 12-phase PMSM under dq-axis coordinate is established to analyze the motor power output capability and establish the equalization control relationship between different groupings to ensure the equalization of output voltage of four sets of windings of permanent magnet synchronous motor. Simulations and experiments on the balanced operation of the 12-phase PMSM are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed balanced control strategy, which can be balanced between different sets of windings when the motor starts with unbalanced winding power, and is more suitable for multi-phase motor drive systems with high requirements for the balanced voltage and current of 12 phases.
