摘要

A precise sensor node energy consumption model was presented for ultra wide-band (UWB) wireless sensor networks (WSNs) with jointed consideration and study of the working status of each circuit module at the sensor nodes. Also, an optimal data frame length choosing algorithm was proposed to minimize the average transmitting energy for transmit 1 bit data using three modulations methods and two transmission modes. The correctness of the algorithm was verified by simulation. The simulation results show that based on guaranteeing the quality of service (QoS) of the network service (The threshold of the signal-to-noise ratio of the receiving signal at receiver is fixed at 12 dB), the data frame with large length can be selected to archive the better throughput and the less time delay when the transmitter sensor is near the receiver senor (less than 20 m), and vice versa. Also, the proper modulation method and transmission mode can be chosen according to the requests of the network service and the conditions of the network environment to minimize the energy consumption and time delay simultaneously.
