Design and Simulation of A Directional Dual-Beam Antenna-Coupled High-Temperature Superconducting Balanced Terahertz Receiver

摘要

This work presents the design and simulation of a quasi-optically coupled high-temperature superconducting (HTS) balanced terahertz receiver. The design features an integrated lens antenna excited by two concentric-slots-shaped thin-film radiators, which radiates highly directional dual-beams for coupling the radio-frequency (RF) and local-oscillator (LO) signals, respectively. Besides, a 340-GHz balanced HTS Josephson-junction heterodyne receiver circuit is carefully designed in terms of matching, isolation and wideband transmission. Detailed numerical modelling and simulations are conducted for verifying the concept of design and the performance of the balanced antenna-coupled HTS receiver.
