Approximate analysis on temperature rise in charge explosive during projectile penetration

摘要

The axial stress and the axial deformation of the charge explosive in a projectile was theoretically analyzed during the penetration process. The corresponding distribution functions along the axis of the charge explosive were attained by considering the elastic and plastic deformation of the charge explosive. Based on the friction-induced heat as well as the heat conduction, the temperature distribution along the axis of the charge explosive was obtained. Calculated results show that the maximum temperature rise and its location in the charge explosive are dependent on the charge length and the overload peak in addition to the physical property parameters of the explosive. The calculated critical charge length can be taken as a reference for the charge design. This investigation can provide a theoretical basis for the charge design and the safety analysis in the engineering practice of the projectile penetration.
